Super Rich?

Perrier-Jouet has announced a special limited release of its 2000 Belle Epoque. The '99 vintage of the Belle Epoque retails for about $180 a bottle. The special limited release will be offered at just under $6,500 a bottle with a minimum purchase of twelve bottles. Only 100 cases of the limited release will be made available to us "super rich." Presumably, thereafter, the rest of you will be able to buy the regular release of the 2000 Belle Epoque for about $200 a bottle. But you won't get to personalize the "liqueur" in a one-on-one session with the Cellar Master. The "liqueur" for those of you who may not know, is a blend of wines from other vintages and some sugar that is added to champagne during the final production stage. This can have a subtle influence on the finished product's flavor. Naturally, the subtlety is one that would be wasted on any but us "super rich."
