According to a story in Decanter.com, one of my favorite Rhone producers, Michel Chapoutier, has acquired land in and plans to eventually release a Champagne.
Chapoutier is an innovative, seventh-generation winemaker who has embraced biodynamic farming techniques such as use of indigenous yeasts and developed a method for printing braille one wine labels. If you haven't had his wine, you're missing out. I can't wait to taste what he does in Champagne.
